Cube afternoon

Fauns have been working so hard this term that they are enjoying their cube afternoon today.

A lovely quote from Tristan, "This is going to be so fun!" when referring to our cupcake-decorating station.

It's so lovely to see them enjoying this reward as they put so much effort into their learning day. Millie also just showed me how she's using her learning even on an afternoon like this. We're watching The Smurfs and she did some mental maths subtracting the smurfs that Gargamel had sucked up in his hoover from how many smurfs there first were. 5-3=2. She checked her answer against her estimate too. What a star!

Here they all are 'partying' on the carpet in lots of very snuggly PJs!

Be prepared for lots of hyped-up children tonight however. The snack table is weighed down with every form of sugar possible! You'll be pleased to know that the cherry tomatoes and grapes that I bought for the occasion have equally gone down a storm!

Well done Fauns on all your effort and I hope you've enjoyed the afternoon!

Mrs Clarke's Visit

On Friday, whilst I was away on very important business, Fauns had a slightly inappropriate supply teacher. I would like to apologise for all children who were forced to

a) sit in rows in silence;
b) wear the dunce hat;
c) recite the locations of different countries blankly;
d) pick up Mrs Clarke's mess as she whacked things off from the shelves with her cane;
e) be injured with vicious blows from said cane;
f) be called 'stupid' in front of their classmates.

I unfortunately have no further information on these crazy events as I was not there but I'm sure the children will be able to inform you.

Please forward any complaints to:

Mrs Clarke
Old School Hall
Manor Road
North Walsham

Miss Othacehe

P.S. Apparently, the children took some pictures to evidence this criminal situation. If any of these images bring up traumatising memories for the children I would like to apologise again.

Library Visit

We're visiting the library today! So far we've heard about mp3 books to 'Playaway', comics bd magazines, books, games, DVDs and all sorts of other exciting things to borrow.

The children are having a story read to them and it's lovely to see so many of them eager to borrow and read books today.

Our learning this term...

This term, our main focus will be on learning about North Walsham and its fascinating past. We're very excited about helping the children to understand why our town is the way it is today and why they should be very proud of where they live!

We will be looking at 10 of the most famous buildings in North Walsham and discovering some of the people that have been important to North Walsham's past. These include Lord Nelson, well-known novelist Agatha Christie and many more!

This project will involve elements of History, Geography, Science, ICT and Design Technology (DT) as well as linking in with some of our English and Maths learning too.

We were very grateful to have many of you at our parents' meeting on Monday so we could explain a bit more about this, but I hope you are as excited as we are about this exciting theme!

We know that many of you will know lots about North Walsham's history and some of your family members may have lived here a long time, so please let us know if you could spare some time to talk with the children about an area of interest that you have.

Saying any more would spoil some of the surprises we have in store so please ask your children what they have been learning about and look out for more opportunities where you can get involved!!

Just a quick welcome back to all the Fauns. Well done on a great return with lots of learning going on already. I was so impressed with all your work on subtraction this morning and can't wait to see more of this throughout the year! Miss Othacehe
