Cube Afternoon

This afternoon, Fauns had their well-earnt cube afternoon with a film, blankets and lots of popcorn. I'm sorry I missed out on the fun but hopefully I'll get to hear all about it later.

Fauns - why don't you leave a comment and let me know how you got on?

Playscripts

I just wanted to share another lovely moment with you. Fauns are busy using their learning to read playscripts with expression. Here is a picture of the Red group working with Miss Timmins and I love how Georgina has got her arms flying up into the air. They're really trying to act flamboyantly to create an effective piece of drama!

Well done Fauns!

Wow Fauns! What great learning you've been doing on using your handwriting joins today. I can't wait to see the progress in your writing in our plays on Friday!

This is a picture of the front cover of a play. Can you guess what it is about?

Fauns have been doing some fancy handwriting today, we thought you may like to see all of our work!

Archaeological Dig

What a fantastic afternoon for Dragons (and Miss Othacehe, Miss Timmins, Mrs Atyeo and Miss Williams!!). We went out to the discovery site expecting to find some bugs and moss and instead...

We found some artefacts! Lots of them!

We found animal skulls, broken pottery, pieces of fabric, feathers, stones and all sorts of other exciting things. Have a look at some of the photos: (thank you to Sophie for her great photography!)

Lena and Adam with our first two major finds. They both found a piece of pottery with a pattern on the edge and a thick rim.

George found some fabric. We had to decide whether it was modern (as it wasn't damaged) or if was ancient (as it was woven).

A sample of our tools. Before the lesson we decided that we needed:
a) trowels
b) brushes
c) magnifying glasses

 Dragons digging busily.
Chloe's massive find! At first, we thought it was a dinosaur jaw!

I love the care that Joseph (or this might be Jack as the coat is confusing me!) is taking here by using a brush instead of a trowel in order to make sure not to destroy any artefacts that he might find!

After all our digging, we were lucky enough to have the opportunity to talk to Dr Smith from the UEA on Skype about our finds and what he thought our finds could be and when the site could date from. Why not ask a Dragon what we found out? (sorry for how unclear the photos are - we were all gathered around the tiny screen so that we could use the webcam and microphone and it was quite a challenge!)

Please remember that Fauns are going to get the same opportunity tomorrow at 13:45, so if you'd like to see what you can find, why not come and join in?!

Wow!

Hello Fauns,

I've been away in Essex learning about e-safety in schools today and have just now checked our blog. What wonderful learning you've been doing with Miss Leigh and Miss Timmins today!

Your groups have really come together and you've used all the skills we've been learning in the past few weeks to put on a great country dance. I really thought that each group tried really hard to work together and support each other in remembering and doing the right moves. Great work all round!

I can't wait to hear your evaluations of your dancing (and your videos) tomorrow!

Minstrels

Fauns have got talent!

Well, we've had a great morning recording our unique dances in Fauns. When we looked back over the videos, we thought that there were some lovely smiles, people were concentrating well, and there was some good group work. We hope you enjoy watching...

Success!

I just wanted to share a lovely moment. We were all on the carpet learning that using the correct method for multiplication helps us to solve calculations and we were also thinking about our curricular targets. 'SOME' is the highest curricular target the children can aim for and means that only some of the class are expected to achieve it. It is quite a challenge!

Max then put his hand up to tell me - 'I'm going to aim for SOME!'

What a pleasure it is to see the children so excited about reaching their targets and doing their best. Well done Max for such enthusiasm and I'm sure you will reach it in no time.

Miss Othacehe

UPDATE: Max has achieved the SOME target in this lesson!!!

Tom Palmer Visit

The whole school is currently sitting in the hall listening to Tom Palmer talk to us about his Football Academy collection of books. It's so wonderful to see how excited the children are about reading and hopefully today will get even more of them excited!

Feel free to visit his website at http://www.tompalmer.co.uk/ to find out more about Tom's books. In the meanwhile, why not have a look at some of our photos from today?

Excitement on the field!

In Assembly this morning the whole school was told the exciting news that something had been found on the school field.

There is no need for anybody to worry, everybody is safe, the children have been asked to stay away from the area until it is revealed what has been found.

As yet we have no further details but an investigator has been in this morning to see what he can discover. We will keep you posted.
